Notice is hereby given that the Devonport Borough Council, in pursuance of its powers under the Municipal Corporations Act, 1920, the Rating Apt, 1025, the Hospital and Charitable Institutions Act, 1926, and all other powers enabling it in that behalf, intends on WEDNESDAY, the sixth day of July, 1032, to make and levy for the year commencing on the Ist dny of April, 1032, and ending on the 31st day of March, 1933:— I.—A GENERAL RATE OF 2id in the £. and 2,—A LIGHTING RATE of Jd in the £, upon the unimproved ratable value of all property as appearing on the Valuation Roll for the time being in force in the Borough of Devonport. 3.—A HOSPITAL RATE of 3-10 din the £, on the Capital Value of all ratable property as appearing on the Valuation Roll for the time being in force in the Borough of Devonport. 4.—A UNIFORM ANNUAL FEE for refuse removal purposes of 13/ upon all properties situate within the Borough of Devonport as has a building erected thereon. (N.B. —This fee provides for the emptying of one regulation refuse receptacle per building each week.) All the aforesaid Rates to be payable in each ease in one sum on the 18th day of JULY, 1932, at the Council Chambers, Marino Square, Devonport, to A. B. Wilson, the Council's Collector, or to such other person as may from time to time be appointed to collect the same. The Estimates upon which the rates are being struck having been approved by the Council, remain open for inspection in the Council Chambers, Marine JSquare, Devonport. The Rate Books and Valuation Bolls arc opeu for inspection in the Council Chambers, between the hours of 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. on all business clays of the week, except Saturdays, when the said Rate Books and Valuation Rolls are open for inspection between the hours of 9 a.m. and 12 noon. 5.—A COMBINED INTEREST RATE of 4d in the £, on the Unimproved ratable value of all ratable properties within the Borough o£ Devonport, made for the providing of interest end sinking funds on Special Loans, ■will be payable as aforesaid for the period above-mentioned. C—STANLEY BAY RESERVE LOAN SPECIAL RATING AREA—A Rate of id in the £ on the Unimproved Value of each property in the Stanley Bay Reserve Special Rating Area, on account of the annual recurring special rate of Jd for interest and sinking fund on loans of £2200. will be payable for the period abovementioned, and be payable as aforesaid on the ' 18th day of JULY, 1932. 7.—WATER RATES AND CHARGES— And notice is hereby further given that in pursuance of powers under the Municipal Corporations Act, 1920, the Rating Act, 1925, and the Acts amending the same respectively, and all other powers enabling it in that behalf, the Council will make and levy for the year commencing on the Ist day of April, 1932, and ending on the 31st clay of March, 1933, the following water charges and rates : — (1). Where water is supplied by meter— In resDect of Ordinary Supply as denned by Clause 260 of By-law No. 1, 1026, the sum of One Shilling and Sixpence per thousand gallons, with a minimum rate of 7/6 (Seven Shillings and Sixpence) > per half year (2) Where Water is not supplied by meter—ln respect of. Ordinary Supply—upon all lands and buildings to which water is supplied, the annual ratable value of which as appearing ou the Valuation Rolls does not exceed £25, a rate of Ten Shillings; exceeding £25, a rate of 2 per cent on such value. The above water charges and rates to be payable in every case in two half-yearly instalments, the first upon the first day OCTOBER, 1932, and the second upon the first day of APRIL, 1933. (3) NON-CONSUMERS' WATER RATES —Upon all lands and buildings to which water can be, but is not supplied, situated within 100 yards from any part of the waterworks, a rate not exceeding one half of the rates above mentioned, such rates to be for the year commencing on the Ist day of April, 1932, and ending on the 31st day of March. 1933, and such rate to be payable in one sum on the first day of OCTOBER. 1932. The above water charges and rates to be payable in each case to Alfred Ernest Wilson, the Council's Collector, or such other person as may from time to time be appointed to collect same. REBATE ON RATES. In accordance with Section 04 of the • Rating Act, 1023, the Council has resolved thnt a rebate o£ £5 per centum be allowed to every ratepayer on the total amount of general and special rates payable by him (excluding water rates and charges), if such rates be paid within thirty days from the due date thereof.
