MODEL YACHTING.
RACING AT PONSONBY. The Ponsonby Model Taeht Club held their first series of races during the weekend at the boat harbour, St. Mary's Bay. Ten boats competed, and were divided into two classes, the 2ft and allcomers. Six races were held, the courses being windward and leeward and triangular alternately. The wind was light northerly, and the boys liad no trouble in controlling their small craft from dinghies kindly loaned by members of the Ponsonby Cruising Club. The races started and finished off St. Mary's Bay jetty, where a number of enthusiasts gathered to watch the contests. Kesults :— First race: Lucky Girl (L. Hammond) 1, Ida (A. Carson) 2, All Black (E. Sellars) 3. Second race: Reddie (T. Ireland) 1, All Black 2, Rangi (L. Matthews) 3. Third race: Reddie 1 Rangi 2, Ida 3. Fourth race: Rona (W. T. Matthews) 1, All Black 2, Enterprise (R. Murphy) 3. Fifth race: All Black 1, Rangl 2, Star (J. Erickson) 3. Sixth race: Rona 1, Ida 2, X.ucky Girl S. The racing was especially close In the fifth race, when the three placed boats finished almost in line. Lucky Girl was a representative from the Manukau Model Yacht Club.
Racing will be continued fortnightly, Practice sails being held on alternate weeks. Mr. W. T. Matthews was handicapper and starter, and ■Hγ. W. A. Wilkinson judge.
