RIFLE SHOOTING.
AUCKLAND DEFENCE CLUB. There was a very small parade of members at Penrose on Saturday, when the club fired its first round oC (ho winter servlco series. Although the weather conditions were fair, the visibility was poor, especially for the last practice on the snap shooting disc. The practice comprised five rounds application at 200 yds, six shots on the running man at the same range, followed by seven in 23 seconds and seven on the snap shooting disc at 300 yds- Best scores: — G. G. Kelly, 24. 20, r,O. 23—total fl7; A. Sommerville, 21, IS, 2.J, 27—04: F. Bowes. 22, 14, 24. 23—53: H. Sinimonds. 24, 14, 215. is—B2: A. G. Robertson, 23, 17, 10, 0— 3D; A. Doel, 22, IS, 13, 0 —53. The next competition will be fired under service conditions on July 2 at i'enrose.
