BAYSWATER. PETITION
TELEPHONE AND MAIL
FACILITIES.
"IMPERATIY . NECESSITY."
Concerted action is being taken by residents of Bayswater to impress upon the Postmaster-General the urgent need for improved telephonic and niail delivery facilities in the district. A petition to the Minister has been drawn up, and it is the aim of the authors to secure the signature of every householder in this popular seaside suburb. The petition states that the installation of a public slot telephone is an imperative necessity, At present no means of telephonic communication with the city exist, and it is confidently believed that if a kiosk were established it would be constantly in use, and bring to the Department revenue that now is lost. It is claimed that the welfare and safety of the district arc involved. In addition it is suggested that an automatic stamp-vending machine might be instituted, and that consideration should be given the question of arranging for a second daily delivery of letter mail. Failing provision being made for an afternoon delivery, it is urged that ri supplementary mail be made available over the local post oflice counter. "The proposals would not be a.financial burden to the Department; the result would be a gain," the petition contends.
