PINE-CONE PUSSIES.
Many interesting toys, like the cat illustrated, may lie made from pine cones and a few bits of wood. To made a cat, select a, cone tliat is as nearly as possible the shape indicated in "the accompanying drawing. The ai/.o (if the head, legs '' nicl tail %vi,l 1)e regulated by the shape and size of the cone.
The parts should be sawed from soft pine, au'd the corners rounded and smoothed. Each should then be fitted to the fone rind fastened with either gluo or sealing wax. All the space between the wood and the cone must bo tilled to insure tight joints. % It is suggested that the body be painted with dark grey enamel, having a gloss finish. The head and tail may be a lighter tone of the same colour, and the feet of a contrasting enamel, such as black or white. For the nose and mouth, bright red is a good colour, the eyes are black, relieved with a touch of white.
