PRUNING AND THINNING SHRUBS.
When niher work is not pressing a little time could be devoted to the shrubs. Xow that the leaves are off the. deciduous sorts it is easier to see which shoots will be better removed. Also cut out old, worn-out brandies. Those crowding their neighbours should be shortened or removed. As shrubs grow larger and fill the spaces allotted to them it becomes necessary to either remove or cut out some. If the shrub is only a, common variety it is best cut out. but any really worthy of the trouble can be transplanted.
