YOUNG MAORI SHOT.
SON OF LATE SIR MAUI POMARE.

FOXTON, Friday. 4. shooting accident, resulting in the death of Mr. Tertaere Pomare, single, a«ed 26 years, eldest son of the late Sir Maui Pomare and Lady Poniare. of Lower Hutt, occurred at Devils Llbow, four miles up the Manawatu River from Foxton, this morning. The deceased set out in a boat witli a shotgun to pick up eel baskets. Later a Foxton resident collecting firewood discovered his body beside the boat, which was pulled into the bank. The deceased had evidently been in the act of pulling a fully-loaded shotgun from the bottom of the boat when the hammer of the right barrel caught and discharged t.ie cartridge. The pellets entered his chest, throat and face. Death must have been instantaneous. Mr. Pomare was visiting relatives here.
