DEATH OF BOY CYCLIST.
CAUSED BY MENINGITIS,
"I presume that there will be further inquiries," said the coroner, Mr. F. K. Hunt, S.M., yesterday, in finding a verdict that Edward Antonovich, a cyclist, aged 15, died from meningitis following a fracture of the base of the skull as the result of being knocked down by a motor car driven by John George Collins. The lad was involved in a collision with a motor car. when riding his bicycle on the Great North Road at Point Chevalier on March 26.
Several witnesses stated that the motorist appeared to be travelling fast, but the driver said he was doing about 10 miles an hour at the time of the accident, and that he turned into Walmer Road in second gear.
