UPPER CONGO TRIBES
BASIC BELIEF IN GOD. An interesting description, of the habits and customs of the tribesmen of the Ruapula district, in the Upper Congo region, was given by Mr. J. A. Clark, missionary and explorer, of Katanga, Central Africa, in an address delivered to a large audience in Scots Hall last evening. Mr., A. H. Donnell, chairman of the Dominion executive of the Crusaders' Union of New Zealand, presided. All through the Ruapula district, where David Livingstone carried out much valuable work, said Mr. Clark, he had not found a single man who did not believe in God. It was a basic belief of the native people in those parts. A number of pupils of the Auckland and Mount Albert Grammar Schools were presented by Mr. Clark with Crusaders' Union awards.
