VACANT LOTS.
FOR GROWING VEGETABLES
The Mayor, Mr. G. W. Hutchison, reported to last night's meeting of the City Council that he had been approached by unemployed men desirous of filling in their "off" days by growing vegetables, provided the council could place vacant sections at their disposal. He had conferred with tho city engineer, who stated that there were eectiore available, and he recommended that the city engineer be authorised to grant the use of vacant sections, which tlie council was not Likely to require at present, to genuine applicants. The report was adopted without comment.
