HENDERSON INSTITUTE.
A meeting of the Henderson branch of the Women's Institute was held on Wednesday afternoon. Mrs. Robb presided. At the conclusion of the business an interesting lecture on Portugal was given by Mrs. R. H. Pollock, and a large number of photographs were displayed. An instructive demonstration was then given by Mrs. Sache on raffia hat making, and some very nice models were shown. The competition for flowering shrubs resulted as follows, Mrs. Ramsay acting as judge:—Mrs. Pollock 1, Mrs. Asliton 2, Mrs. Morris 3. The sponge cake competition result was: Mrs. Massey 1, Mrs. Bond 2. Miss Ellis, Miss Gilgour and Mrs. Morris were appointed to attend to the garden at the railway reserve, and tlio report of the recent meeting of the A.P.F.W.I. was given by the delegates,
