SUNSHINE ASSOCIATION.
STREET APPEAL TO-DAY. READY RESPONSE BY PUBLIC. Despite tho financial stringency there was a very ready response to the Community Sunshine Association's street appeal in Auckland to-day. Though florins and half-crowns dropped into boxes were not so numerous as in past years, shillings were given willingly. The collection was not expected to reach those of the best years.
Tho association was formed several years ago, and since then members have done great work in caring for delicate and neglected children at the Sunshine School in Nelson Street. The association has conducted clubs for both boys and girls in the Freeman's Bay district, and arranged summer camps on Motuihi and Waiheke Islands for those children who were in indifferent health. It also took a practical interest in the children of Hawke's Bay who suffered during the earthquake in February last year. When the children from Hawke's Bay returned to Napier glowing tributes were paid to the association.
All who subscribed to-day were given forget-me-nots in accordance with the association's custom. The appeal last year realised more than £700.
