AUSTRALIAN DELEGATES.
PRIME MINISTER NOT GOING?
All sections of the commercial and business world in Australia are displaying keen interest in the forthcoming Ottawa Conference. It is anticipated that the official delegation from the Commonwealth will comprise Mr. S. M. Bruce and the Minister of Customs, Mr. H. S. Gullett. The complete delegation has not been announced, but, apart from the political spokesmen, Mr. R. W. Knox has appointed as a consultant, representing the Associated Chambers of Commerce of Australia. He has already left for England, and will spend four weeks there before going to Ottawa.
Another Australian business man who will serve in a consultative capacity is Mr. S. McKay, of Melbourne, who passed through Auckland recently on his way to England. He is managing director of a large firm manufacturing agricultural machinery, and will advise the delegation on points connected with wheat growing and other branches of agriculture.
In addition, the Australian Dairy Produce Export Board has recommended the appointment of Mr. H. W. Osborne, of Victoria; Mr. Angliss, M.L.C., of Melbourne, has been nominated as the representative of the meat industry; and Mr. H. E. LafTer, overseas representative of the Wine Marketing Board, has been instructed to attend the conference on behalf of the Australian wine industry. It is expected that other consultant delegates will be appointed.
