RANGATIRA IN GALE.
JACKSTAFF SWEPT AWAY. LATE ARRIVAL AT LYTTELTON. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, this day. For the first time the new ferry steamer Rangatira encountered heavy weather from Wellington overnight, and arrived two hours late, but the passengers reported that the vessel weathered the. storm in excellent fashion, though often n whole gale raged and swept away the jiickstail on the bow, as well us tore out a portion of the railing. For a time a speed of only 14 knots was maintained.
