ALL BLACKS' MANAGER.

W. J. WALLACE APPOINTED. (By Telegraph.—Special to "Star.") WELLINGTON, this day. At last night's meeting of the New Zealand Rugby Football Union, Mr. W. J. Wallace, the famous All Black, was appointed manager of the Dominion team to visit Australia this season (opening with a match against New South Wales on June 25). He is well known across the Tasman, having toured Australia as a member of the 1903-5-7 New Zealand teams. S. R. Murray, another old Poneke-ite, will accompany the side as "baggage man." He has been associated with numerous representative teams as masseur. The question of the New Zealand team playing a match against Wellington on the eve of departure was discussed. The chairman (Mr, S. S. Dean) said Mr. Wallace and himself would be in Christchurch when the inter-Island match was played on June 4, and opportunity would be taken to ascertain if players would be available to play a game against Wellington on June 15. Once again the management committee of the New Zealand Uniou made plain its attitude with regard to players leaviug the field at half-time. The question was raised at the committee's meeting last night upon the receipt of a letter from the Wellington Union that there was still some doubt on the point. A reply is to ■be sent that the New Zealand Union had given a decision which must be carried out —that no player shall leave the field at half-time without the permission of the referee.
