TRANSPORT APPEAL.
BOARD SITS AT WHANG AREL A WAX UI - 0 TIRIA SERVICE. (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) WHANGARET, this day. A sitting of the Transport Appeal Board, presided over by Mr. Justice Eraser, is in session in Whangarei. The whole of yesterday and until after midday to-day was occupied in hearing the appeal of Alex Hutley. The No. 1 Transport Licensing Authority granted the appellant a license to run between Awanui and Otiria, via Kaikohe, Kerikeri and Ohacawai. His appeal is that the decision be put aside ancl that he be granted a license to operate a, continuous passenger service between Awanui and Whangarei, via Kaeo and Otiria. According to the applicant the service had been operated by .Hutley continuously from September 1, 1927, and ho was therefore entitled to a license under section 28 (.'{) of the Act. The Transport Department stated that one other service operated over a portion of the appellant's route, Mr. G. Jones running from Mangonui to Ohaeawai. The appellant's service appeared to be the only passenger service operating between Awanui and Whangarei. The ease is still proceeding.
