SOCIALISTS' HOPES.
U.S. PRESIDENCY CANDIDATES. NEW YORK, May 23. Mr. Norman Thomas, of New York, has been nominated as Socialist candidate for the Presidency of the United States of America. He told the Socialist National Convention at Milwaukee that his campaign would ' e a relentless war against the Republican and Democratic parties and against "the kingdom of poverty."
Mr. James Maurer, of Pennsylvania, for 10 years the State president of the Federation of Labour, has been nominated as the party's candidate for vicepresident.
