SOUTH AFRICA'S DECISION. (Roccived 12 noon.) CAPETOWN, May 23. The Gold Standard Select Committee (on which the Opposition refused to serve, following a statement by the Minister of Finance, Mr. Havenga, that it was immaterial to the Government policy what the committee reported), states that abandonment would confer no benefit on South Africa. It would introduce drawbacks such,as a shock to confidence and the substitution of an unstable measure of value.
