Mr. F. W. Aickin, assistant Law officer for the Railway Department, arrived from Wellington tliis morning. Mr. W. J. Poison, M.P. for Stratford, joined tlio Limited express at Frankton last evening:. Mr. W. A. Bodkin, M.P. for Central Otago, returned South, by last night's Limited express. Mr. T. W. Rhodes, ex-M.P. for Thames, went to Wellington last evening,. Mr. E. Casey, chief engineer to the New Zealand Railways, has been visiting the South Island. Sir James Parr, Leader of the Legislative Council, returned to Auckland from Wellington this morning. Mr. J. H. Barker, jiin., managing director of the Western Electric Company, Australia and New Zealand, Ltd., is at present touring the. Dominion. Mr. H. Johnson, of Auckland, who has been attending the Eotary Conference in Duncdin, is visiting the West Const. The Hon. J. A. Young, Minister of Mines, will leave Wellington for the West Coast on Friday to visit the mining centres. Captain Webb, of the head office staff of the Union Steam Ship Company, returned to Wellington by last night's Limited express. Mr. 11. Butcher, jun., son of Mr. and Mrs. H. J. Butcher, of Epsom, leaves by the Mariposa on May 23 for Sydney, on a holiday in Australia. J Mr. R. C. Hay Mackenzie, ex-manager of the Bank of New Zealand, at Hawera, and Mr. S. A. Chisholm, who have been visiting Auckland, returned to Hawera this morning. Mr. Justice Frazer, chairman of the Transport Appeal Board, was a passenger from Palmerston North by tho Limited express this morning. Sir George Fowlds and Mr. T. U. Wells, members or the Massey College Council, left for Palmerston North laet evening to attend a meeting of tho council. Mr. F. J. Hamilton, late of the Public Works Department, Rotorua, has been transferred to Paeroa as the official representative of' the Unemployment Board.

Mr. Maurice Colicn left Wellington for San Francisco by the Maungaiiui yesterday to represent the Wellington Harbour Board at a conference of port; authorities in Los Angeles at the- end of July. The Hon. C. B. Macmillan, Minister of Agriculture, will leave Wellington for the West Coast on Friday evening. After a tour of the district lie will go to Dunedin to open the Otago A. and P. Society's winter show on May 31. Mr. G. F. Birks, past governor of Australian Rotary and nominee director of Rotary International, was a through passenger by the Maunganui to the United States, where he will attend the World Rotary Convention at Seattle. Mr. W. Wallace, chairman of the Hospital Boards' Association of New Zealand, leaves for Wellington to-night to make arrangements in connection with the forthcoming conference of hospital boards.

Mr. L. C. Cronin has teen appointed editor of the "New Zealand Tablet," Dunedin. Mr. Cronin lias been acting as Parliamentary reporter for the Otago "Daily Times," and previously held positions on the literary staffs of the "New Zealand Times" and "Sun," Auckland. Mr. Cambden Garrett, manager of the Auckland branch, of the Bank of New South Wales, has been appointed manager of the King and George Street branch in Sydney. Mr, F. D. McGovern, assistant manager in Auckland, has been appointed manager and he will be succeeded by Mr. J. R. H. Caiman, manager in Fremantle,
