TAKAPUNA BY-ELECTION.
MR. C. M. DOWD'S POSITION.
Tho by-election for the vacant eeat on the Takapuna Borough Council, caused by tho fact that Mr. C. M. Dowd, who \vn« elected to the council on March 17, has been declared ineligible to retain his seat owing to his having undertaken relief work in the council's employ, will bo held on June 14.
The town clerk, Mr. H. L. Bowdcn, said this morning that Mr. Dowd would be eligible for re-election at the byelections providing he was not in the employ of the council at the time.
Mrs. J. C. Blomficld has announced that she will bo a candidate the vacant seat.
