MANUKAU COUNTY COUNCIL The council of the Manukau County met yesterday, the chairman, Mr. F. M. Waters, presiding. . , , ~ The chairman was nominated as tne council's representative on the Main Highways Board. The inspector, Mr. W. W. Murray, reported that the permits issued m separate ridings for the year ended March last were: Mangere, £8089; Pakuranga, £2552- Papakura, £3156; Papatoetoe, £5122; Turanpta, £2186 10/; Wairoa, £5152; total, £26,257 10/. The council had written to the general manager of the New Zealand railways, Mr. P. J. Roussell, offering to supply the Otahuhu workshops and station with water at 9d per 1000 gallons. Mr. Rouesell wrote stating that the Otahuhu Borough Council had already spent some considerable sum in laying the water mains, and in various other ways, and that the services of the council were satisfactory.
