Drawing their names from a grey felt hat, the President of the United States, Mr. Hoover, decreed that Marcel Rainville (Canada) and Wilmer Allison (U.S.A.) start play on Thursday in the American zone of the Davis Cup. Jack Wright meets Ellsworth Vines.

C. E. Malfroy (New Zealand) has been appointed captain of the Cambridge University lawn tennis team, which includes J. W. Nuthall, brother of Miss Betty Nuthall.
