DUNEDIN SAVINGS BANK.
LARGEST DEPOSITS ON BECORD.

DUNEDIN, Tuesday.
At the annual meeting or the trustees of the Dunedin Savings Bank, held to-day, returns of the year's operations showed that the total amount on deposit at the end of the year was £2,057,487, as compared with £1,966,386 for the previous year. The amount is the largest in the historv of the bank.
Of the deposits, the head office claimed £1,305,973, the South Dunedin branch £443,318, and the North Dunedin branch £308,195. Interest credited to depositors for the year totalled £84,045. The first four months of the year, April to July, were at an interest rate of 4J per cent, and the remaining eight months at 4J per cent.
As illustrating the increasing popularity of the bank, it is pointed out that in 1931 there was a record number of depositors, namely, 27,024. This record has again been beaten, the number of depositors standing this year at 29,594. Amounts deposited in the bank during the rear totalled £981.900, and amounts withdrawn were £975,451. In the previous year the withdrawals exceeded the deposits by £21,287.
