AUCKLAND DEFENCE CLUB.

H. SIMMONDS IS CHAMPION

The final shoot of the season was fired by members of the Auckland City Defence Rifle Club at Penrose. The championships resulted : —Senior: H. Simmonds, with a total of HIS points, average 03.1; G. G. Kelly, runner-up, 109S points, average 90.75. Junior championship : C. J. Robieson 10S5, average 90.4; runner-up, A. G. Degenkolbe 1043, average 50.9. The final of the fifth, trophy resulted :— G. G. Kelly, 4 ; C. J. Robiesou, J. A. Spry, S. C. Wells, 3. A pleasing incident of the afternoon was the presentation by Mr. H. Collis of a gold medal to Rifleman C. J. Robieson to mark the occasion of his fine double possible score over the long ranges on April 9. Mr. Collis is a veteran marksman of the old volunteer days and still takes an interest in the sport. Scores:—H. Simmonds, 48 at 200 yds, 47 at 300 yds, total 95 ; C. .1. Robieson, 47, 47—94 ; C. J. M.' Clark, 48, 46 —94 ; W. Thompson, 43, 00— 93 ; J. A. Spry, 46, 47—93 ; A. J. Silver spoons wore won by C. Clark and .T. Spry. The third round of the service championship will be fired on Saturday week.
