N.Z. COUNCIL MEETS.
F.A. TROPHY CHALLENGES. LOAN GRANTED TO AUCKLAND. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, this day. The council of the New Zealand Football Association met last night. Mr. F. Campbell was re-elected chairman. A challenge was received from Wellington to play Otago for the F.A. Trophy, and it was decided to inform Otago that a challenge had also been received from Canterbury, and asking that a challenge be played at an early date. The chairman suggested that it might be possible to arrange for a game on June 3. Applications for footballs for primary schools were received from, several associations, and substantial allocations arc being made. An order was given in New Zealand for 100 footballs, of which 54 are already allocated. Attention of associations is to be drawn to the danger of players continuing to play after receiving head injuries. The chairman said that players should not be allowed to continue unless a medical man gave his consent. The association granted a loan of £30 to the North Auckland association for the furtherance of school football, and allocated £50 towards meeting the deficiencies in expenses in the semi-finals and final of the Chatham Cup, provided satisfactory arrangements are made regarding ground charges. The council also agreed ito meet losses up to £10 per match in the F.A. Trophy and Brown Shield.
The council allocated £20 to primary and secondary schools' football tournaments in the North Island, and a similar amount to the South Island, provided the tournaments were properly organised. No grant was made for travelling expenses.
The following loans were approved: Mosgicl Club, £300; Canterbury association, £1800; Auckland, £1200.
