A fire broke out at 3 o'clock this morning in the bulk storeroom of the Farmers' Trading Company's premises, at the corner of The Strand and Hamilton Street. Smart work by the brigade saved the wooden block from destruction, but considerable damage to the stock was caused by fire, water and smoke. The damage to the building was confined to one room. The building was insured for £1223, and the stock for £1000, both policies being held in the South British Office.
