EIGHT GARS SAVED.
GARAGE FIRE AT MT. ROSKILL.
Eight motor cars were saved from a burning garage in Mount Albert Road, Mount Roskill, early yesterday morning through fast work by the Mount Roskill Fire Brigade. Only a small section of the building was burned. A motor cyclist travelling along Mount Albert Road from Royal Oak to Balmoral at 12.15 a.m. saw flames coming from a building of galvanised iron, which is used as a garage and workshop by Mr. F. R. Ferris, of Mount Albert Road.
When the Mount Roskill brigade arrived they managed to remove eight cars without damage to them. A back wall, a work bench and a few tools were damaged. Mr. L. J. Stevens, of Mount Eden, is the owner of the building, which was insured.
