COUNTRY SHOWS.
KAWAKAWA DISPLAY. EXHIBITS OF HIGH ORDER. SOME CLASSES ELIMINATED. (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) WHANGAREI, (his day. The Kawakawa A. and P. show was held in flno weather on Saturday. The attendance was smaller than usual, due, no doubt, to the fact flint the classes for horses, cattle and sheep were eliminated, owing to financial stringency. Despite that factor, the show wsa a very fine one, exhibits in the various classes being of a high order, especially the cooking and flowers. An innovation was provided by sports for the children. The following were the special prizes awarded :— Farm and Garden Produce Section. — Most entries of vegetables and most points: Mrs. .T. Doel (Taumareie). Flowers. —Most points in section: Mrs. L. Cleary (Kawakawa;. Fruit.—Largest number of entries : Mr. K. 13. Noy (Kawakawa). Home Industries. —Most entries in cooking section : Mrs. R. Crookes (Moerewa). Largest number of entries ill section : Mrs. J. Arnold and Mrs. C. Nicholson, equal. Largest number of entries in preserves: Mrs. (.'.. Nicholson (Waimate North). Bread championship : Mrs. Crookes. The School Challenge Shield for farm and garden produce was won by the Knretu Native School, which had a great display. Weight-guessing Competition (sheep, weight 117 All>). —.T. .Tohaniiespn (Kawakawa), 1171b. D. Mason (Mnramaku) and T. H. Noy (Kawakawa), llSlb, equal.
