Captain Erling Tambs, accompanied by Mrs. Tambs and family left on Saturday in their yacht Teddy for Queensland, in continuation of their voyage around the world. A number of yachts and motor boats accompanied the Teddy' down the harbour. A naval pinnace gave the yacht a pull out clear of the wharves, where she felt the light southerly and progressed slowly till off Devonport, when Mr. E. J. Kelly's motor yacht Linda passed a line aboard and towed her clear of Kangitoto. The Teddy arrived from Norway in January, 1931. She competed in the trans-Tasman race in March, and won the cup offered by the Akarana Club. Teddy sailed back to Auckland, and the boat was hauled out on the Devonpor 4 - Yacht Club's slip, where she underwent a thorough overhaul, Captain Tambs being assisted by local yachtsmen. A trip to Tahiti was made in November, the yacht arriving back just in time to start in the annual race from Auckland to Tauranga.
