The North Shore Swimming Club held a carnival at Cheltenham Beach on Saturday afternoon. ■_ , The iunior harbour race, the first of its kind held in Now Zealand, proved a most attractive event. The distance was one mile and a quarter. Fourteen started and nine nuished. The entrants were boys up to the age of 12 years. Shanahan (7m) led for half the distance, but was attacked with cramp and retired. Miss J. Tingle, with 41 minutes start, took the lead, which she maintained until within 30 yards of the finish, when, with a splendid dash, G. Cox, from scratch, forged ahead and won by a few feet from T. An exhibition of swimming was given by > T ow Zealand champions on Saturday morning in tlio main pool at the Wsird BnthH, the following team taking part:—N. Crump. Xew Zealand intermediate champion: R. Krankhnm, Auckland Intermediate champion : W, Johnstone, Auckland primary schools champion ; Miss M. Farquhnr, New Zealand lady champion ; Miss Edna R.-iiiiey, Now Zealand f>o yards junior champion, and Miss Judith Webster, New Zealand breaststroke champion. DARGAVILLE SCHOOL SPORTS. The Dargaville school sports, were held at the Municipal Baths on Saturday afternoon. In the inter-hnnse competition Selwyn scored 5S points, Grey 4(U points, Hobson 4(i points and Wakefield 20i points. The senior boys' championship resulted in a tie between Jim Moran nnd Owen Williams. The junior championship was won by David Campbell. The senior girls' championship was won by Peggy Kinniburgh, and the junior by Jean Munro.
