WHITTLE FAILS TO SCORE TILL SIXTH HEAD.

ROTORUA, Friday,

The fiual o£ the Rotorua bowling tournament was played this afternoon between Onehunga (Sutherland, Flowerday, Livingstone, Robertson) and Grey Lynn (Mincham, Person, Liversidge, Whittle). A large gallery attended, anticipating an exciting contest, but was disappointed, the Onehunga team having a runaway victory (2(3 —17), Grey Lynn failing to produce the form shown in the semi-linal, in which Whittle's men beat Ghiplin's Rawhiti rink, 20—14.

.1' irst Head.—Sutherland drew a shot on kitty, Flowerday and Livingstone adding one each. Liversidge saved one. Whittle played two running shots into the head, but failed to alter the position. Robertson 2, Whittle 0.

Second Plead.—Sutherland drew a shot and Flowerday added another, forcing Liversidge to burn the head. The replay saw Mincham draw short and Liversidge place his second. Livingstone drove at the head, taking out both shot bowls, leaving Robertson one up. Whittle narrowly missed trailing kitty, Robertson drawing a second shot. Robertson 4, Whittle 0.

Third Head.—Sutherland drew the shot on kitty. Mincham narrowly missed resting on him. Livingstone added two more, Robertson being three up when the skips went down. Robertson drew a fourth, Whittle failing. Robertson 8, Whittle 0.

Fifth Head.—Sutherland drew the shot wide of kitty, Flowerday adding two more. Person saved two, only to see Livingstone put another on the head. Liversidge sa.yed one. Whittle played two running shots without altering the position. Robertson 10, Whittle 0.

Sixth Head.—Whittle opened his score at last. Sutherland throwing a very short jack, Flowerday promoted the shot bowl into shot. Person drew him off, and Liversidge promoted his opponent's bowl for shot, Livingstone drawing a second. Whittle played a beautiful snot, cutting out both shot bowls, giving him a four, which Robertson failed to disturb. Robertson 10, Whittle 4. Seventh Head. —Mincham drew a good shot, a foot from kitty, on a full-length head. Sutherland, however, rested him back for shot. Robertson drew a second. Robertson 12, Whittle 4.

Eighth Head. —Mincham drew the shot, only to be "robbed" by Sutherland. Mincham again drew the shot, Person adding a second. Flowerday rested back on both the shot bowls, making Robertson two. Person saved one, only to see Robertson draw another. Two good attempts by, Whittle failed to alter the position. Robertson 14, Whittle 4.

Ninth Head.—Sutherland got the shot, Flowerday adding a second, but Person drew inside both. Livingstone vested back on the shot bowl for two, and drew another, making Robertson three up. Robertson drew another. Whittle failed to alter the head. Robertson 18, Whittle 4.

Tenth Head.—Sutherland drew two good shots, but Minoham trailed kitty for one. Flowerday "rested out" the shot bowl, only iu turn to be "robbed" by Person. Whittle, endeavouring to take out the second shot, had the misfortune to turn the opponents' bowl in for shot. Robertson 19, Whittle 4. Eleventh Head. —Mincham drew a "toucher" on kitty, Person adding a second. Livingstone took out one. Robertson 10, Whittle 5. Twelfth Head.—Mincham drew two counters. Sutherland, however, rested back on the shot bowl for shot, Flowerday and Livingstone adding one each. Liversidge drove into the head, leaving his opponents two up. Whittle drove twice, but missed, and Robertson added another. Robertson 22, Whittle 5. Thirteenth Head.—Mincham drew two phots, and Person added another. Livingstone saved one, but Liversidge drew another counter. Whittle drew a "toucher" on kitty, also scoring with his second, taking five and doubling the scorc. Robertson 22, Whittle 10. ■ Fourteenth Head.-~Sutherland drew the shot, Flowerday adding a sccond. Flowerday with liis second bowl promoted his opponent into shot, Whittle adding another. Robertson scattered the head and found himself three up, but Whittle drew another "toucher" on kitty. Robertson 22, Whittle 11. Fifteenth Head.—Mincham scored with both bowls, but Flowerday ran into the head, displacing both shots and making Robertson two up. Liversidge rested one back, but Livingstone put on another. Whittle trailed kitty for two, Robertson promoting a wide bowl into second snot. Robertson 22. Whittle 12. Sixteenth Head.—Mincham and lerson both drew scores. Flowerday, however, rested back the second shot, only to be in turn displaced by Liversidge. Robertson with his last bowl rested out the shot wood. Robertson 23, Whittle 12. Seventeenth Head.—Sutherland drew two, Flowerday and Livingstone adding two more. Liversidge, however, bui fit the head. The replay saw Sutherland draw the shot, and Flowerday added two a:nd Livingstone one more. Liversidge P«yed a beautiful trailer for shot and drew a good second. Endeavouring to rest back the third shot Whittle trailed kitty, but scored with the back woods. Robertson 1 Head.—Sutherland drew two shots. Whittle's side, however played far below form, nothing seeming to go right for them. If they had shown the form they did in the semi-final the result would have been much closer.
