INDOOR BOWLING
POPULARITY FOURS TOURNEY,
A tourney promoted by tlie Auckland Friendly Societies' Indoor Bowling Association, to show tlieir appreciation ot tlie enterprise of tlie management in keeping tlieir green open all tlie year round, was held in tlie Little Green on Monday night. Although very hurriedly prepared, it was over subscribed. Twenty-five rinks enterha* only twenty could be accommodated. Pour rounds of seven heads were eu, and the interest became intense when it: was realised that six teams were likely to qualify, but the final few heads went against four of these; leaving the teams skipped by J. Tyndall aiul W. Wiltord to play oft. The final seven heads saw two very well matched teams, with all the players doing their bit evenly contesting every head. It was a battle between a very accurate drawing skip, and a t'orecul and resourceful one, and' the hitter's tactics won. In connection with this a popularity contest was held, every player having a vote, and the result was a very decided win tor Mr. P. E. McCallum, who was voted the most popular player and best sport. The following are the results : — Public Service Fours Cup was won by the Marine team, Perritt, Williams, Flinn, Suckling. Public Service Pairs Cup was won by South Auckland Lands and Survey team, A. Stewart and W. Earle. INTERHOUSE TOURNEYS. The following are the January results of these most popular tourneys: — Interhouse Fours Cup.—Smith and Smith's team, G. Moxley, W. Donald, E. Butters, C. Caitelieon. t, Interhouse Pairs Cup.—Northern Roller Mills team, S. Park and W. Wilford. In each case, in addition to holding the cup, the winners each receive miniatures.
