The fourth Test match between the South African cricketers and Australia was continued to-day in the presence of 17,000 spectators. When stumps were drawn on Saturday the visitors had made 308 in their first innings and Australia had lost four wickets for 302, Bradman (170) and Rigg (32) being the not out men. Bradman to-day thrilled the onlookers by his magnificent display of batting. Ho made several new records. On passing 200 he completed his third double century against the South Africans and liis loth 200 or more in first-class cricket. Both are Australian records. His 299 not out is the highest individual score in a Test match in Australia, breaking R. E. Foster's record of 287 at Sydney in 1903-4. Brad man's running was a revelation. He nearly overlapped Grimmett once in his eagerness to get his 200. He was missed in the slips by Bell at 185. Grimmett and Oldfield wagged the "tail." When Bradman had made 290 indecision about running an extra ono lost Thurlow his wicket and cost Bradman himself his 300. The South Africans commenced their second innings 205 runs behind.
