CORNWELL CUP.
VICTORY FOR LYTTELTON. AUCKLAND 7 MINS. BEHIND. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, this day. The rst race for the Cornwell Cup was sailed at Evans Bay this morning, over a windward and leeward course of seven miles, in a fresh, full sail northerly wind, with occasional squalls. . Paremata did not start, the boat being damaged in a collision at the starting line. The Christchurch, Manukau, and Otago boats capsized, the last named when running third. The Lyttelton boat led throughout, and beat the Auckland boat by nearly seven minutes. Plimmerton s boat was the only other one to nish. Wellington's boat retired full of water. A further race will be sailed this afternoon.
