FOR SERVICES RENDERED.
ST. JOHN AMBULANCE OFFICER MR. S. LANG STONE HONOURED. ( The principal transport officer of the St. John Ambulance at Auckland, Mr. S. Langstone, has had the honour of appointment as honorary serving brother of the Venerable Order of the Hospital of St. John of Jerusalem conferred upon him by the Grand Prior, the Duke of Connauglit. Advice of the appointment has been received by Mr. William Rattray, hon. secretary for the Auckland Division. He states that it is not customary to confer this honour on an official of the association who is in receipt of a salary, but that Mr. Langstone had done so much work for the Order in excess of that expected of him that the Duke decided that his services were worthy of special recognition. Mr. Langstone, who has been associated with the St. John Ambulance for 10 years, was born in England, where lie .served some time in the motor trade. During the war he served in France for five years. After the war he returned to the motor trade, but on arrival in New Zealand he took charge of the transport of the Auckland branch of the St. John Ambulance. He performed notable work after the Hawke's Bay earthquake.
