RIFLE SHOOTING,
AUCKLAND DEFENCE CLUB. At Penrose on Saturday the Auckland City Defence Rifle Club fired the final of the third trophy series. The trophy was won outright by G. G. Kelly, who shot solidly for 47 at 500 yards and 49 at 600 yards! His total of 96 gave him first place and three trophy points. As he already had three be won comfortably. W. Thompson was runner-up with a total of four points. Silver spoons were won by G. G. Kelly and A. J. Pieterson. Scores off the rifle :— G. G. Kellv. 47 at 500 yards. 49 at 600 yards, total 96; H. Simmonds', 46, 45—91 ; A. J. Pieterson. 47. 41—88 ; A. G. Degenkolbe. 43, 43—86 ; W. Thompson, 45. 41 — 86 ; C. J. Robieson, 42,- 43—55 ; A. Sommerville, 43. 41—84: J. A. Spry. 39. 41—80; R. R. Knight. 41. 33—74: A. G. Hewitt, 33. 36—69: A. Doel, 35, 18—53. The fourth trophy series will commence next Saturday at Penrose with a championship shoot at'2oo yards and 300 yards.
