REPLACEMENT OF GRANT.

SCHOOL LIBRARY SYSTEM. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, Wednesday. In view of the urgent demand for economy, no hope is held out by the Minister of Education, the Hon. R. Masters, for the restoration of the annual Government grant of £150 toward the maintenance of the public schools library system in the Wellington district. A deputation representing the Wellington Federation of Educational Associations waited on the Minister to-day with a request for the replacement of the grant. The Minister said that if the grant were made in Wellington lie would have to restore those made in other districts, which would involve an annual commitment of about £3500.
