OBITUARY.

MRS. SUSAN REYNOLDS GILBERT. The death has occurred at her residence, 34, Trafalgar Street, Oneliunga, of Mrs. Susan Reynolds Gilbert, wife of Mr. G. R. Gilbert, at the age of 77. Mrs. Gilbert was born at Falmouth, Cornwall, and came to New Zealand

with her husband in ISBS. About 1890 they came to Auckland from the South, and settled permanently in Onehunga. Mrs. Gilbert was much loved throughout the district for her philanthropic work in her church and in social welfare circles. She is survived by her husband, four sons and four daughters. MR. J. B. ROWE. The death has occurred of Mr. James B. Rowe, a Pukekohe farmer, who had, been a resident of the district for 27 years. Mr. Rowe, who was TO years of age, was a native of Princetown, Devonshire, and as a young man had been engaged in goldmining in Queensland. He was in business in, Kliyber Pass Auckland, for 17 years, and then began farming at Pukekohe. Last May lie retired and went to live in Mount Eden. He was an active member of the Methodist Church. Mr. Rowe is survived by his wife, two eons and two daughters. MR. THOMAS PARTRIDGE. (Prom Our Own Correspondent.) TE KUITI, Friday. One *of the pioneers of the Marakopa Valley district, Mr. Thomas Partridge, died recently in the Te Ivuiti Hospital. For many years he had been a director of the Marakopa Dairy Company. As a keen angler he took .an active interest in the work of the Acclimatisation Society. He was known in his younger days as a feather-weight boxer. Mr. Partridge is survived by his wife, one eon and a daughter.
