Eleven Killed in Fighting at Barracks. HOSTILITIES -IK" THE NORTH. NEW YORK. December 27. j A message from Santiago. Chile, states j that 300 armed men, reported to be j Communists in revolt against the Gov- \ eminent of President Montero, stormed 1 the regimental barracks at Copiao. j capital of the province of Atacama. [ Eleven people, including two women, i were killed in the fighting. Many j soldiers, who were away on Christmas j leave, were hastily summoned to re- j turn and rental the mob. Heavy fighting continued later inj northern Chile, where 32 rebels and 1 State policemen were killed. The police j raided the Communists'* headquarters at j Valparaiso last evening and made [ numerous arrests.
