Fan her couciins: of the Toiinr in the Federal elections has been announced, Mr. D. G. Cameron (United Australia party) Has been defeated by Mr. G. Lawson (Federal Labour* in Brisbane. Mr. A. -J. Hunter (Co an try party) ha; defeated Mr. M. A. Ferricks (Federal Labour) in a straight-out nght for Maranoa, Queensland, by aboat 300 votes. Mr. J. H. Gander (Lang plan candidate) has been defeated in Reld, New South "Wales, by Mr. E. X. Uebel (United Australia party), whose majority was TOOO. "The police were on guard ali night at the Cook divisional returning oSeeMost rigorous precautions were taken to eee that all the provisions of the Electoral Act were carefully observed. It is expected that the final figures for Cook will be made known to-day.
The latest scrutineers 5 report indicates that Mr. -J. S. Garden (Lang plan candidate) retains a slight lead. The final counts will be announced to-day.
