FOUND DEAD.

RESIDENT OF OTAHUHU.

MR. HENRY JOHN HALL.

A well-known citizen of Otahuliu, Mr. Henry John Hall,, was found drowned in Favona Creek early yesterday afternoon. He was missed from his home early on Sunday morning, but as it was his habit to go to his office at all times no anxiety was felt until later, when search parties were organised by the police. Constable Archibald recovered the body on a mud flat about a mile from Mr. Hall's home. It was only partially clothed.

Mr. Hall was 09 years of age, and carried on a business as a general storekeeper in Otahuliu, founded by his father, Mr. John Hall, nearly eighty years ago. His father, a native of Northern Ireland, was one of the first settlers, and the first to open business, in Otahuliu. Mr. Henry Hall was for many years a member of the Otahuliu Borough Council, and was also a member of the old Road Board. He was actively engaged in the social work of Holy Trinity Church, of which he was a warden, and held in high esteem by all who knew him. His wife and a family of two daughters and one son survive him.

An inquest was opened before the coroner at Otahuliu this morning. The deceased was identified by his son, who said his father had suffered from influenza recently and from the effects. He had never heard his fatlu-r give any intimation that he intended to commit suicide. The inquest was adjourned sine die.
