OTAGO SEATS.
LABOUR WORKING HARD IN CITY. SITTING MEMBERS CHALLENGED. (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) DUNEDIN, this day. Two Otago seats which are regarded as safe for sitting members are Chalmers (Mr. A. E. Ansell) and Central Otago (Mr. W. A. Bodkin). Now that Mr. Bodkin has been selected as the Coalition party's nominee the district committee of Reform supporters in support of, Mr. Charles Todd's candidature has disbanded.
Mr. Peter McSkimming, who has decided to stand as an Independent Coalitionist for Clutha, is a well-known Benhar resident, who will have a hard fight against Mr. F. Waite, the sitting member.
The Labour party is working hard in city electorates and hopes to win Dunedin South, which it lost to Mr. W. B. Taverner (United) by a small majority at the last election.
Mr. J. W. Munro, the Labour sitting member for Dunedin North, has no strong opposition so far.
The Hon. Downie Stewart (Dunedin West) and? Sir Charles Stathain (Dunedin Central) will have a straight-out fight against Labour, which is not so strong in these electorates as in the other two.
