DUNEDIN BOY'S CAREER.

DUNEDIN, this day. I Right-Lieutenant Jack E. Markby, ;who met his death -with another New Flying Officer McHardy, at ■Hucknall, England, was a Dunedin boy pvho had done well in the Royal Air JForce. His parents reside at Kaikorai, ;and he was educated at Wakari School, pejng' dux at the age of 12. He attended ■;the Otago Boys' High School for three : years, and was then apprenticed to "When his apprenticeship '■expired he worked Ms way to England •.on the Port Curtis in 1927, and soon after passed the entrance examination ; aud -was admitted to the Air Force. 1 The New Zealander headed the list ;in the flying officers' examination, and "last August passed his lieutenancy with a pass of 80 per cent yii: every subject. He was transferred to -HucknalL in September, and had bce» there only three weeks when he met Ins '"death: : He had just returned from his honeymoon.
