FLUCTUATIONS IN SHARES.

DEMAND STILL ACTIVE, SOME LINES EASIER. When brokers met this morning on the local Stock Exchange for the first call of the week a number of sales finalised late un Saturday were recorded, and one of Farmers' Trading was made in the room. Fresh bidding displayed moderate activity. In some eases buyers lowered the reserves ruling at the week-end, but, generally speaking, late valuations were maintained. In the banking section Commercials were easier, with sellers at 15/10 and beet buyers at 15/7, The insurance section was firm, and in the pastoral buyers for Dalgetys raised their offers to £7 2/G, and for Loan and Mercantile £100 scrip £48 was available.

Bycroft's shares were in request at £1 7/, »and Farmers' Trading, after a sale at 3/7, were still wanted at that figure. In Government stocks £96 was offered for tax frees and £99 for z> r k (1937). At Noon Call. Commercial Bank shares were easier at the noon call, sales being made at 15/7, at which more were offered, but buyers quoted 15/6. The preference issue of Commercial Banks, on the" other hand, firmed 1/, being wanted at £6 1/- Australian Bank of Commerce shares firmed to buyers at 14/6, which brought in a seller at 15/9. National Bank of J\ T ew Zealand had demand at £4 9/, but the seller asked £4 17/6. A rise took place in the buying offers for Bank of New South Wales shares, which could be placed at £26 7/6. Dalgety shares showed further improvement, being wanted at £7 4/, but this did not disclose a seller. Buyers came in for Westport Coal at £1 2/, whereupon a seller quoted £1 4/. New Zealand Breweries were wanted to £1 12/, with shares offered at 1/ advance. The 1938 and 1939 loans, iYz per cent, eased-as far as sellers were concerned, being 7 offered at £97 10/, with, buyers at £96 for each issue.
