EXTRA WORKERS' TRAIN.
RAILWAY BOARD'S PROPOSAL.
During a discussion by the Papakura Chamber of Commerce last evening on the need of better train facilities for workers, the local relieving stationmaster, Mr. Dodd, informed members that he had received information that the Railways Board was investigating the advisability of putting on an extra train for workers. It was proposed to start the train at Papakura at 7.25 a.m. and stop at -all stations between Papakura and Otahubu where required, and from Otahuhu to Auckland make a nonstop trip, arriving at 8.14 a.m. The scheme was not finalised, but lie understood that the number of workers travelling was increasing at every station between Papakura and Auckland, with the exception of Newmarket. In view of this information the members decided not to take any action, but to congratulate the board on the recent reduction of fares.
