LOST IN DARKNESS.
FISHERMAN IN DINGHY, DISCOVERED AT DAYBREAK. EXHAUSTED BY LONG PULL. (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) WHITIANGA, this day. After having pulled a dinghy for eight hours in the darkness, Mr. Queenau, of Whitianga, was discovered in an exhausted condition -about daybreak this morning by a launch party sent in search of him. With a companion named Wells, Mr. Queenan was fishing from the launch Betty B. They were separated toward nightfall in a fairly rough sea. Mr. Queenan, in a dinghy, was .working long lines, and Mr. Wells was unable to find him. Mr. Wells returned to Whitianga for more petrol, and Mr. T. Hutchinson and a party set out with the launch Marlin to search for the dinghy. They left at 1 a.m., and discovered Mr. Queenan about daybreak between Ohena Island and the Aldermans. He was exhausted, having prilled the dinghy for over eight hours with a cargo of fish and gear, and his hands were blistered.
This is the third such -case recently, and it is recommended that "long'liners" use torches in future.
