AMERICA CALLED IN. League Council Decides on . . Collaboration. JAPAN MEANTIME OBJECTS. (British Official Wireless.) (Received 12 noon.) RUGBY, October 14. The members of the League of Nations Council this .morning discussed the general situation of the Chinese and Japanese trouble. It is understood that special attention was paid to the for the close collaboration of the United States in any action the Council may take.
Geneva dispatches state that it was proposed to ask the. United States Government to authorise its Geneva observer to sit at the Council table in a consultative capacity. The (Japanese and Chinese delegates were not present this morning, but M. Briand (France) will convey to them the proposal to obtain American collaboration and to discover their views on the point. • . It is learned that the Chinese welcome this, while the Japanese pbject, pending, instructions from Tokyo.
CANTON'S DEMANDS.
Chinese President's Surrender Reported. RECONCILIATION EFFECTED ? HONGKONG, Octobcr 14. The, Canton Government's official news agency states that the President; Marshal Chiang Kai-shek, has accepted all Canton's demands, including his resignation. In consequence of this delegates from Canton are proceeding to Shanghai, to meet the President personally and arrange details. , While a reconciliation between Canton' and Nanking is considered likely, foreign observers ar<- inclined to discount the report of Marshal Chiang Kai-shek's complete capitulation. ■ ,
