EDENDALE TENNIS CLUB.
The courts were opened for play last Saturday, there being- a good gathering of members and friends, who were welcomed by the club's president, Mr. R.. Ferner, After introducing the Hon. Sir George Fowlds and Lady Fowlds to the members. .Mr. Ferner called on Mr. W. F. Stilwell (Mayor of Mount Albert) to declare the courts open for play. Mr. Stilwell wished the club every success in the coming season. The lion. Sir G. Fowlds also expressed his pleasure at being present at the club's opening. The play took the form of a progressive tournament. Miss L. Dickie being the winner of the ladies' trophy, and Mr. L. Fisher the gentlemen's. The officers for the season are :—President. Mr. R. Ferner; secretary, Mr. P. Hobson; treasurer, Mr. S. Bailey; general committee. Misses D. Page and F. A. Nairn, Messrs. Barnett. Blundell, C. B. Watkin and A. K. Watkin: selection committee. Miss F. A. Nairn, Messrs. C. B. Watkin and Blundell.
