LEAGUE FOOTBALL

JUNIOR MANAGEMENT.

ABUSE OF PLAYERS* PASSES.

The junior management committee of the Auckland Rugby League last evening stood, as a gesture of sympathy to the secretary, Mr. T. l>avis, in the death of his father.

The Marist Club was congratulated upon winning the Davis Shield for most points in junior grades, the fourth and fifth grade teams annexing the championship and knock-out.

' The mid-week committee applied to have the match on Saturday between the Wednesday and junior reps, transferred from No. 2 to No. 1 ground, -where the fourth grade sides, Marists and Northcote, are to play the curtain-raiser. It was decided not to interfere with the fixtures.

Reference was made to the abuse of passes to. Carlaw Park by junior players. : and the chairman, Mr. J. Eddowes, hinted that, unless some new and effective cheek system for the issue and use of passes were devised,-it was - possible that all junior passes would be withdrawn by the authorities. Several delegates agreed that abuse of the concession to players was rampant, and the question, including consideration of junior football cost, ground rents and form, of control, will be dealt with at an important meeting next week.
