MANUREWA TOWN BOARD.
The Manurewa Town Board met last evening, Mr. W. J. Ferguson presiding. Oram's Road.—lt was decided to proceed with the formation of a footpath from Great South Road to Mr. E. W. Dalton's property. Cricket Club.—A deputation from the local Cricket Club waited on the board with a request that a concrete pitch be laid down at Jellicoe Park, at an estimated cost of £5. Members did not favour the proposal, in view of the fact that the same area is used for football, and the deputation's suggestion that the pitch could be turfed during the football season was not considered a satisfactory solution. It was decided to suggest to the club that it put down a. turf wicket at its own expense, in which case the board would be prepared to find the necessary material for netting-in the area. Electric Power. —In response to the board's letter asking for the establishment of a branch depot at Manurewa, the Auckland Electric Power Board wrote statins that provision had been made for future' branches at Papatoetoe and Papakura. and it was considered that these would efficiently- serve the requirements of intermediate and surrounding districts. Street Collection. — Permission was granted the St. John Ambulance Association to hold a street collection on Friday, ; October 2.
